New European rules to better protect consumers
On the occasion of Europe Day, celebrated tomorrow, the European Consumer Centre Luxembourg would like to highlight concrete achievements of the European Union in the field of consumer protection.
Your smartphone stops working after four years and the manufacturer tells you to buy a new one. Or you want to withdraw from an online purchase but do not know how to proceed.
Situations like these are common for consumers across Europe. To improve consumer protection and simplify procedures, the European Union has adopted new rules that will strengthen consumer rights in very practical everyday situations.
Among the key measures are the right to repair, aimed at promoting more sustainable consumption, and the introduction of a mandatory withdrawal button for online purchases, making it easier for consumers to exercise their right of withdrawal.
